Description

Colourful start into the new (archery) year

The new Take Down Recurve series from Drake brings colour into the dark season.

With the Take Down Riva bow, DRAKE ARCHERY has more than succeeded in making a colourful start to the new year. Bow is not 100% correct, it is rather a small bow series.

The riser of the Riva is available in five different colours: Fern - a rich green, Truffle - a wonderfully warm brown tone, Midnight - a deep dark blue, Plum - an exciting violet and Hibiscus - an exciting combination of deep blue and mystical violet. Visually, the riser captivates with the expressive contrast of the central strip of deep black Drake stable wood, which is framed by the particularly delicate Dymondwood in beautiful colour variations.

The riser owes its slightly higher weight to the combination of Drake stable wood and Dymondwood. A slightly higher weight in the middle section has several advantages. It makes the grip significantly more torsion-resistant, which in turn increases precision and almost completely eliminates possible hand shock.

The grip is completed by high-quality limbs with a high-performance bamboo core and an inlay of black stable wood, which is covered with satin black power glass. The RIVA limbs offer everything you would expect from high quality limbs: good stability and excellent throwing performance.

Both the riser and the limbs are available in two lengths. The slim, ergonomic riser is available in 15 and 17 inches. In combination with the limbs in medium and long, this results in bow lengths of 60, 62 and 64 inches. A special feature here is that there are two options for configuring the 62 inch long bow: either with the 17 inch riser and the Medium limbs or with the 15 inch riser and the Long limbs. The latter option is perfect for archers with a long draw who still prefer a shorter bow.

Its compact size and wide range of draw weights make the RIVA an incredibly versatile bow for archers of all skill levels. At 20 lbs, it is the perfect companion for teenagers and petite women. With up to 60 lbs, it is equally suitable for advanced shooters looking for maximum throwing power in 3D shooting.

All in all, this is a more than successful bow that leaves nothing to be desired in terms of both looks and performance. Particularly noteworthy are the immaculately crafted tips, which emerge absolutely seamlessly from the limbs.

[SPECIAL] DRAKE ARCHERY ELITE Riva - incl. elTORO Wild Colorz - Set - Shooting Glove, Arm Guard, Quiver & Bow stringer

The elTORO Wild Colorz accessory set contains everything you need for archery: a shooting glove, an arm guard, a quiver, a drawstring and a bow bag. All colour-coordinated and available in many colours.

  • elTORO Wild Colorz - Shooting Glove
Glove made of soft suede that reliably protects the fingertips. The connection between the glove and the Velcro wrist strap is made of a flexible elastic band, ensuring a comfortable fit and a firm grip.

  • elTORO Wild Colorz Traditional - arm guard
The double-layered arm guard Traditional reliably protects the forearm from contact and injuries caused by the recoiling string when shooting. The closure of the arm guard by a lacing allows an optimal fit on the arm and is suitable for all sizes.

  • elTORO Wild Colorz Dual - Back & Side Quiver
At first glance, the elTORO Wild Colorz Dual appears to be a classic side quiver, but only becomes a back quiver at second glance. As the name "Dual" suggests, this quiver is both a side and back quiver. Equipped with a holder and a belt clip, it can be worn on the side of the belt or on the back thanks to the detachable shoulder strap. Due to its round shape, the quiver can be worn by both right-handed and left-handed shooters.

  • elTORO Wild Colorz - Bow stringer
This stable and high-quality tensioning cord is adjustable in length. It is suitable for recurve and longbows. By using a tensioning string, the bowstring can be strung with less effort. Furthermore, this method of cocking is much gentler on the bow and limbs. Manual cocking can warp or damage the bow and limbs in the long run.

Right-handed or left-handed?

Determination of the draw hand

The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-handed bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right hand.

Determining your personal draw hand has far less to do with whether you are left-handed or right-handed than you might initially assume. It is much more about determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for aiming. This then automatically results in the draw hand.

The term dominant eye refers to the eye whose visual information is superimposed on everything. If a shooter tried to aim with the other eye, he would have to close the dominant eye.

There are two ways of determining the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally favoured, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the peephole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise that can be used to determine the dominant eye beyond doubt:

  • The arms are stretched out and a triangle is formed with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands.
  • A small target is aimed at through the triangle, for example a socket or a cupboard knob. Focus on this object.
  • The hands are now slowly brought towards the face without taking the target object out of focus.
  • The triangle of thumb and index fingers will involuntarily tend towards one side of the face and this is where the dominant eye is located.

If the dominance of the eye and hand do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can be easily retrained for the new draw hand, but not the eye.
