Perfection down to the last detail - The Obsidian Take Down Bow from JACKALOPE
The JACKALOPE Obsidian Take Down is handmade in the finest European craftsmanship from high-quality and innovative materials. The handle, for example, is made of two completely different types of wood, giving it its unmistakable character. The front part, facing away from the shooter, is made of black-grey Teknowood, an ultra-modern material made of several layers of wood. In contrast, the rear part facing the shooter is made of beautiful, sturdy Amazoque, a tropical wood that is particularly appealing for its warm colours. The limbs in sandwich construction are based on a core of bamboo wood on which highly stable, black glass laminate lies and whose surface shines silk matt. All this together makes the JACKALOPE Take Down bows fast, forgiving and very quiet.
Another detail, perhaps not so obvious in its perfection, are the hand-cut transitions from the handle to the limbs. The handle merges seamlessly into the limbs and makes forget that this is a three-piece bow. Elegant design can also be seen in inconspicuous details.
As innovative as the bows are, so extraordinary is the name! The Obsidian is a gemstone with very special and not unimportant characteristics for shooters. Thus this elegant, black stone made of lava glass not only protects against negative energies but also helps to realize one's own goals. It promotes perception and strengthens inner peace and patience. A quite
successful choice of name for the flawless JACKALOPE Obsidian bows.
SPEED - Carbon for even more speed
In the speed versions the JACKALOPE obsidian is now even faster! An additional layer of carbon improves the already good-natured characteristics of the bow. It makes the bow more forgiving and provides a narrower and more accurate hit pattern when shooting. But how does it achieve this? Quite simple: Due to the carbon inlay, the limbs are not only lighter and more distorsion-resistant, but also about 10fps faster.

Determination of the draw hand
The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-handed bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right hand.
Determining your personal draw hand has far less to do with whether you are left-handed or right-handed than you might initially assume. It is much more about determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for aiming. This then automatically results in the draw hand.
The term dominant eye refers to the eye whose visual information is superimposed on everything. If a shooter tried to aim with the other eye, he would have to close the dominant eye.
There are two ways of determining the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally favoured, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the peephole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise that can be used to determine the dominant eye beyond doubt:
- The arms are stretched out and a triangle is formed with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands.
- A small target is aimed at through the triangle, for example a socket or a cupboard knob. Focus on this object.
- The hands are now slowly brought towards the face without taking the target object out of focus.
- The triangle of thumb and index fingers will involuntarily tend towards one side of the face and this is where the dominant eye is located.
If the dominance of the eye and hand do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can be easily retrained for the new draw hand, but not the eye.
