Description

DRAKE ARCHERY ELITE Dark Phoenix - 60" - 30-50 lbs - Take Down Recurve bow

Dark Phoenix - A legendary name for a powerful bow! DRAKE ARCHERY chose the name for this bow carefully. It was not born from the ashes, but its colouring in deep black and orange-red is reminiscent of the dawn at sunrise, the time when the Phoenix rises.

Of course, it is not only the unusual and very interesting colouring that is convincing about the Dark Phoenix. The riser, for example, is made of Dymondwood, an innovative, highly stable material made of several layers of wood and epoxy resin, which absorbs vibrations and allows for faster, smoother shooting over the rounded shelf. As modern as this material is, it does not deny its foundation and leaves the natural grain of the wood clearly visible.

Completing the riser are the DRAKE Traditional Performance limbs, made from maple and dark Dymondwood and named for a reason. Made of plain black DRAKE Power Glass over a core of high-quality maple wood and dark Dymondwood in the area of the limb mountings, the DRAKE Traditional Performance limbs - almost unique in this price segment - have Fast-Flight tips that, in combination with a matching Fast-Flight string, get the maximum performance out of every bow.

The result is a compact bow with a particularly smooth draw, very good throwing performance, optimal arrow speeds and an almost complete reduction of vibrations in the grip.

ELITE - The best from DRAKE Archery

Good things can be made even better! - DRAKE Archery follows this claim and brings with the ELITE series bows, limbs and risers to the market, which are unparalleled in their price segment. High-quality workmanship as well as modern materials and an appealing look come together to create recurve and hybrid bows with a high quality standard without losing sight of the price-performance ratio.

Right-handed or left-handed?

Determination of the draw hand

The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-handed bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right hand.

Determining your personal draw hand has far less to do with whether you are left-handed or right-handed than you might initially assume. It is much more about determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for aiming. This then automatically results in the draw hand.

The term dominant eye refers to the eye whose visual information is superimposed on everything. If a shooter tried to aim with the other eye, he would have to close the dominant eye.

There are two ways of determining the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally favoured, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the peephole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise that can be used to determine the dominant eye beyond doubt:

  • The arms are stretched out and a triangle is formed with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands.
  • A small target is aimed at through the triangle, for example a socket or a cupboard knob. Focus on this object.
  • The hands are now slowly brought towards the face without taking the target object out of focus.
  • The triangle of thumb and index fingers will involuntarily tend towards one side of the face and this is where the dominant eye is located.

If the dominance of the eye and hand do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can be easily retrained for the new draw hand, but not the eye.
